AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K Run Welcomes
Tori Cooper - 2016 AIDS Walk Ambassador!

This year, we are excited to have more than one Ambassador representing the Walk.  Tori Cooper is an HIV/AIDS educator with Positive Impact Health Centers - one or the Participating Organizations for AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K Run.  In addition to her professional work, she is also widely recognized as a Community Activist, spending her time advocating for women's health and Trans rights issues. We are thrilled to have Tori serving as a 2016 Ambassador.  Look for her at events around the city throughout the Walk season! We are so excited to have her supporting this very important community effort!  Thanks, Tori!

Some in the community ask do we still need AWA5K?  30+ years into this pandemic - do we still need these kinds of fundraising events?  Do we still need the awareness?  Do we still need the efforts?  Well, actions speak much louder than words - and our numbers tell the story of why we still need AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K Run.  Moreover, they tell the story of why we still need you!  We need you to register, recruit and fundraise!  We need you to help us raise over $1 MM!  We need you, because in June we tested over 1200 people for HIV, and had 35 new positives.  We need you because we have a 3% positivity rate - well above the national average.  AID Atlanta needs you.  Our Participating Organizations need you.  Your neighbors, friends and family need you.  You are needed more than you know.

AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K Run benefits 8 Participating Organizations.  This year, we will highlight the work of each of those organizations in the week's leading up to the day of our event.  This will allow our fundraisers to be better understand how their fundraising impacts the community.

This week, we will be spotlighting
Positive Impact Health Centers

Positive Impact Health Centers provide HIV specialty care and support services, behavioral health including substance abuse treatment, HIV testing and prevention services. These services are available at their Duluth and Midtown Atlanta centers for those affected by HIV. Grant funding enables Positive Impact to offer most services on a sliding fee basis. The mission of Positive Impact Health Centers is to improve the quality of life through compassionate HIV specialty care, prevention, and behavioral health. We are proud to have them return as a Participating Organization.
